- 1,459 homicides occurred in Rio alone
- 22% increase from the same period in 2013
- 23,675 street robberies occured
- 46.2% hike on the same period in 2013
- Police have been attacked by gangs and other organised crime groups
- all neighbourhoods are susceptible to crime
